*RARE MULE COIN* 2014 QEII Sovereign -Unfrosted Obverse Die Error NGC PF69UC
A true rarity, an error coin colloquially known as a “mule”, minted by the Royal Mint and graded/ authenticated by the NGC to an exceptionally high grade for this year. This 2014 Gold Proof Full Sovereign coin was issued by the Royal Mint. In 2014 an unknown number of sovereign coins were stuck with a BU obverse and a proof reverse. Today there is a scarce amount of these Unfrosted Obverse Die Error sovereigns as the Royal Mint's quality control team check these gold proofs. Struck from 22 carat gold (0.9167 fineness) this proof coin has been graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) and has attained the grade of PF 69. It's worth noting the coin is Ultra Cameo, meaning there's a high contrast between the matte and mirror finish on the design. The 2014 gold sovereign features the iconic St George and the Dragon reverse design, by Benedetto Pistrucci. The obverse bears the portrait designed by Ian Rank-Broadley of Queen Elizabeth II. 2014 Proof Sovereign Mintage The issue limit for this proof sovereign is 7,500 but only 3263 were minted.
