Victoria (1837-1901), gold Half-Sovereign, 1866, second larger young head left, type A2 with die number, date below, Latin legend surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, toothed border around rim both sides, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms, die number 18, BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF: (Hill 442; Bull EGC 1267; MCE.587; S.3860). Has been slabbed and graded by NGC as MS61, only 9x finer examples graded across both NGC and PCGS.
The Latin legends translates on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God," and on the reverse as "Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith."
