RARE 1937 George VI Gold Proof Half Sovereign NGC PF63
RARE 1937 George VI Gold Proof Half Sovereign NGC PF63
1937 George VI Gold Proof Half Sovereign NGC PF63
One of the rarest of the half sovereign series in the world and famous throughout the gold community, these plain edge Proof gold Half-Sovereigns were produced to celebrate the Coronation of King George VI on the 12th May 1937 as part of gold Proof sets, with a mintage of 5,501 pieces, they were technically patterns as they did not have a milled edge like other gold Sovereigns.
In my opinion, there is a cameo to the obverse and I am surprised that this did not achieve a cameo grade, overall the coin is in great condition with a great visual appeal. It also comes with the original provenance card from SPINK coin dealer and the slab has a label seal from Heritage Auctions which provides some lineage to this coins past.
Comes with a brand new TheGoldSovereign luxury Gift Box designed to store the NGC graded coin and 3 x 1g Valcambi silver bar in assay cards.
