Australia, Victoria (1837-1901), gold Half-Sovereign, 1858, Sydney Branch Mint, second young head left with wreath of banksia in hair, date below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA D: G: BRITANNIAR: REG: F: D:, rev. AUSTRALIA across centre, crown above within tied laurel wreath, SYDNEY MINT above, HALF-SOVEREIGN below (Hill 383; Bull EGC 1597; QM 235; KM 3; Fr.10a). Some wear with surface marks both sides, has been slabbed and graded by NGC as VF20.

Scarce coin with very few graded examples in existence and overall appealing Australian design, this coin also comes with a complimentary 1g Valcambi silver bar.
The second young head type Sydney Mint Sovereign was designed and engraved by Leonard Charles Wyon. The abbreviated Latin legend translates as on the obverse "Victoria, by the grace of God, Queen of all the Britons, Defender of the Faith."
