A 2020 Brilliant Uncirculated matte gold Sovereign from the Royal Mint. This year is the first that the Royal Mint have produced a Gold Sovereign with a special matt finish, distinguishing it from other Sovereign coins.
Like the 2020 Proof Sovereign, this year's Brilliant Uncirculated coin features a special royal cypher belonging to King George III, as commemoration of his death 200 years ago. Due to the special cypher, production in 2020 will be limited to 10,000 coins.
The Sovereign coin bears the classic George & Dragon design, as sculpted by Pistrucci, on the reverse. On the obverse is the Queen's fifth portrait, by Royal Mint designer Jody Clark.
The 2020 BU Sovereign comes in a presentation case and is complete with a certificate of authenticity.
