2025 Shield Sovereign Reverse Design
2025 proof Half Sovereigns feature a 200-year-old reverse design, created by Jean Baptiste Merlen for the 1825 Sovereign. Dating back to the reign of George IV, the engraving shows a crowned shield of arms with the words 'ARMA GEORGII IV BRITANNIARUM REGIS' around.

2025 Half Sovereigns are struck to a historic specification in 3.99 grams of 22-carat gold, exactly half the weight of a 'full' Sovereign. These coins offer a fine, proof finish and a distinctive rose-gold hue.

The Royal Mint has authorised the issue of just 1,500 2025 proof Half Sovereigns in this limited-edition presentation. Further Half Sovereigns will be offered as part of 3-coin, 4-coin, and 5-coin sets. This 2025 Half Sovereigns come in the original presentation case with a certificate of authenticity enclosed.
